about

Here is the second one that blends icelandic and english lyrics. The lyric was originally written by canadian poet and interdisciplinary artist Angela Rawlings and then translated to icelandic by guitarist/vocalist Gestur. Angela and Gestur then decided to blend the two languges in a more microscopic level than tried before, like words from diffrent languages within the same sentences, to create a foreign sound to the ear.

lyrics

You töltir
niður fjörðinn till dawn and
forgot i killed you
Indeed, you hardly knew

Sól aches
to face grá ský
with thighs, throat,
mane, gore,
lífið fjarar út

Þú hrundir
down the hot and heart-paved ground
What foul force bewitched
my hunted gun?

Flashed your tail
Then the lava bombs took air
Was their farewell heard
though nobody stirred?

Don't lay down
Lead on
under skies slashed with white

The bones,
the flesh,
the bones
a hole in the mouth
Loss leads you home

Love spreads its ambergris
Ástin dreifir ambergris

Baby, go
die die minn guð
Móðir þín reið þér
sprengdi í loft upp

Is she me?
Veldur það þér ógleði
same when mom rode off
Grafkjur hestur

Apology
Ég ligg
létt
I like
the light
No one sees my light dim and into the night

on my mare
my mare put down
no oh
no oh no
oh no oh
no oh no
oh no oh no oh

Love spreads its ambergris
Ástin dreifir ambergris

Atónal Blús Reykjavik, Iceland

Fierce, driven and hypnotic, seeking inspiration among other in rhythms found in ethnic music…..melodic but also turning dark and dissonant with lyrics sung both in Icelandic and English, sometimes blending the two languages….slow and epic, stretching into more improvised soundscapes, but also short, clear and fast. ... more
